Quote of the Day

"I can make a firm pledge. Under my plan, no family making less than $250,000 a year will see any form of tax increase. Not your income tax, not your payroll tax, not your capital gains taxes, not any of your taxes . . . . you will not see any of your taxes increase one single dime."
-- Barack Hussein Obama, Sept. 12, 2008

Today the tobacco tax was raised. Tax on cigarettes went up nearly 62 cents a pack to $1.01, a 258% increase. Roll your own? Bulk tobacco taxes went from $1.0969 per pound to $24.78 per pound, a rise of 2259%. And this was for everyone, not just those making more than $250,00.

Liar.

Quote of the Day

The best way to understand Obama, and I can't say this enough, he really believes that it's his job to return the nation's wealth to its rightful, quote, unquote, rightful owners. And that means that he believes the people who have wealth have stolen it from those who have no wealth. It's been unfairly achieved and accrued, and it's his job to take it and redistribute it.

"THE TAX WEAPON"

That's the Drudge Report title linking to:

House passes bill taxing fat AIG and other bonuses

On the way back from Michigan today (I was there and in Canada on vacation) I said to my captive audience (Mrs. Shomes and Sherlock Jr.) that I was deeply troubled by the House using taxes as punishment. I went on to say:

"What would happen if they decided that the huge salaries of sports figures were 'bad' and went after them with a 90% tax? What would be said then? What if they decided that other groups in the USA were 'bad?' This is a slippery slope!"

Been there. Done that.

I see the HUGE headline at Drudge:

CHAVEZ CALLS ON OBAMA TO FOLLOW PATH OF SOCIALISM

In toto:
CHAVEZ CALLS ON OBAMA TO FOLLOW PATH OF SOCIALISM
Fri Mar 06 2009 17:13:48 ET

Caracas - Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez on Friday called upon US President Barack Obama to follow the path to socialism, which he termed as the "only" way out of the global recession. "Come with us, align yourself, come with us on the road to socialism. This is the only path. Imagine a socialist revolution in the United States," Chavez told a group of workers in the southern Venezuelan state of Bolivar.

The controversial Venezuelan leader, who taunted the United States as a source of capitalistic evil under former president George W Bush, added that the United States needs a leader who can take it to a "higher" destiny and bring it out of "the sad role that it has been given, as a murderous, attacking power that is hated all around the world."

Chavez said that people are calling Obama a "socialist" for the measures of state intervention he is taking to counter the crisis, so it would not be too far-fetched to suggest that he might join the project of "21st century socialism" that the Venezuelan leader is heading.

"Nothing is impossible. Who would have thought in the 1980s that the Soviet Union would disappear? No one," he said.

"That murderous, genocidal empire has to end, and some day there has to come a leader ... who interprets the best of a people who also include human beings who suffer, endure, weep and laugh," the outspoken Chavez said.

Developing...
And the first thing I thought: Too late. We're already there.

Quote of the Day

Regarding the Friday the 13th House Passage of the Stimulus Bill:
I do not expect liberty has gone forever, and I hope that when next a free people charter themselves a government, they look back on this day and learn from our mistakes.

Back to de fields

You served your purpose so get out of the house and back to the fields.

Obama snubs black press

A couple of excerpts:
"We were window dressing," said Hazel Edney, a reporter with the National Newspaper Publishers Association, also known as the Black Press of America. "We were nothing more than window dressing."
"This was like Reagan, when he'd put all the blacks up front," said another prominent but visibly peeved black-press reporter who asked to remain anonymous. "He oughta' be ashamed."
My response:

NRA Membership

Oh, with all the Leftist/Liberal undie-twisting regarding Senator-designate Kirsten Gillibrand of New York and her top rating with the NRA, I made sure this morning to renew my NRA membership.* So to you who consider the NRA a troublesome enemy of your little fascist plans to eliminate one of our basic civil rights: Good work!

*I will NOT become a life-time member of the organization as they sometimes do things to piss me off. Their calling me to vote Republican this last election was one. Fat chance I'd vote for a party that stabbed us in the back.

"Gun Show Loophole"

Though my readership is small, er, very small, er, extremely small, er, wouldn't fill a school bus (some might say even a short one!) I had the urge to write a rant on the anti-self defense/anti-civil rights/gun grabbers fixation on the "gun show loophole" and call it for the lie it is: Behind all the bullshit they want to stop the private sale of firearms ANYWHERE. But I see someone has already written a well-thought editorial on the subject:

Gun show sales not big source of problems

Today Is The Day After Tomorrow

Don't ya just feel it? The Hope and Change? A new president. A new cabinet. . .hey, wait a minute. I recognize you sons of bitches. You're part of the crowd that retroactively raised my taxes in 1993 causing me to give the government even MORE of my money the next year. Fuck. You. Where's the Change?

Who to Blame?

I saw this coming. With Bush gone, who would the MSM and Mainstream Media have to blame when things went wrong? Why, Bush of course! Others see it, too.
