A blogging experiment

A few months ago one of my colleagues informed me that he have begun using Dragon NaturallySpeaking, a voice recognition/dictation program the computer for those of you that may not be familiar with the name. He'd said it increased his productivity. This started me thinking about using Dragon NaturallySpeaking as a blogging tool as it can get tiresome typing out my thoughts and statements rather than being able to speak them in a natural voice. So the other day I found a reasonably priced copy of the program on eBay, ordered it, and it arrived today. After about a half hour of training the program appears to be functioning and this post has been done using Dragon NaturallySpeaking. Let's see if it increases my productivity.

Break from Blogging

I've been taking an unannounced vacation from blogging this last week or so. I've been busting my butt ramping up for the Fall 2009 semester at IUPUI that has just started this past Wednesday. Most of my emotional energy that drives my blogging has been sucked into that. And blogging was getting to feel like an obligation. I've got enough of those. So let's see as things settle down if my blogging picks up again.

Dry Spell

I've not been 'feeling it' lately and hence I've been remiss in writing here. Fear not. I'm sure something will set me off in the next few days.

Report from Baker Street: January BlogMeet

Mrs. Shermlock was unable to attend but Shermlock Jr. did. We both chose one of the Broad Ripple Brew Pub's current specials, the African Fire Pork Stew. Excellent!

We had the usual suspects attending with the usual pleasant and fulfilling conversation. We had one new face. Kerry brought his father-in-law: a gentleman with mucho knowledge of firearms and who has given Kerry some pretty nice stuff. Says much for the way Kerry treats his wife! Or had better treat his wife!

I think it's time again to discuss where and when a January Indy BlogMeet should take place. The Broad Ripple Brew Pub? January 18? Or January 25? Mrs. Holmes is off the 18th so I admit that to be my preference. And while Roberta X will most likely produce a very spiffy graphic (and something far beyond my abilities) for the BlogMeet, I offer an alternative and owe Firesign Theatre a tip of the hat:
