TSA and Your Monkey

The TSA has guidelines on how to check your service monkey. All I can say is:

h/t Slashdot

Addendum: "The inspection process may require that the handler to take off [sic] the monkey’s diaper as part of the visual inspection." What's PETA's take on this indignity?

Members of the Community

You know, I think much of the rancor against the Democrat legislators who voted for Obamacare comes from the misapprehension that they're out of touch, that they're not part of the community, that they're not our neighbors. I think this could be corrected by a nice database on the Internet listing their home addresses and home phones. Maybe pictures of their houses as well. Whaddaya think? Hmmmm?

Political Violence

When Republican Minority Leader John Boehner says,“. . . violence and threats are unacceptable. That’s not the American way." he ignores history. A good study of the roots of the Militia Movement, To Shake Their Guns in the Tyrant's Face: Libertarian Political Violence and the Origins of the Militia Movement by Robert Churchill shows that violence was a part of pre-Independence political discourse through the time of the Civil War and on into the 20th century.

And what of the violent anti-war protests of the 60's and 70's? Will the Left's hypocrisy hold that that was 'good' violence and as 'bad' any violent opposition to the current status quo?

Our Rulers Don't Like To Be Bothered

Just saw this:

The Heat is On: Congressman’s Office Says Constituent Calls Are ‘Harassment’

I wonder if it's worth my 'harassing' André Carson, my rep whose only qualification was his grandma held the office before she died and her operatives wanted to keep their cushy jobs? I should at least let him know I'm going to work hard at having him NOT reelected.

Go on, take a bite!

Went on a errand in the truck today and listened to NPR for about 1/2 minute. The reporters were discussing Obamacare and gave the impression of people tasked with making a shit sandwich sound tasty.

Thanks, Mr. President.!

Our accountant finished our taxes. We made $8600.00 less last year than the year before. There's Hope and Change, Mr. President! All I can offer is a hearty "Fuck you!"

We have met the Hippie. . .

. . . and he is us. In a NY Times Op-ed entitled "The Wal-Mart Hippies" I think David Brooks has hit the nail on the head. As he argues:
. . . the Tea Partiers are closer to the New Left. They don’t seek to form a counter-establishment because they don’t believe in establishments or in authority structures. They believe in the spontaneous uprising of participatory democracy.
. . . both the New Left and the Tea Party movement are radically anticonservative. Conservatism is built on the idea of original sin — on the assumption of human fallibility and uncertainty. To remedy our fallen condition, conservatives believe in civilization — in social structures, permanent institutions and just authorities, which embody the accumulated wisdom of the ages and structure individual longings.

That idea was rejected in the 1960s by people who put their faith in unrestrained passion and zealotry. The New Left then, like the Tea Partiers now, had a legitimate point about the failure of the ruling class. But they ruined it through their own imprudence, self-righteousness and naïve radicalism.

And Glenn Beck as the new Abbie Hoffman? Maybe I'll steal his book.
